What to buy at the French Pharmacy

Mar 24, 2022

A friend of mine is in Paris this week and it made me wish I was going with her to stock up on all my favs from the French Pharmacy. I have done tons of research (AKA reading anything about French beauty products on the internet) and compiled a list of my favorites. As it turns out French beauty products are as good as people say they are and lucky for us, you can find some in the states.

One thing that stands out to me about beauty products from France is the fragrance, they do fragrance really well. For example, I feel like you can always find watermelon or tropical breeze scents in American beauty products, but I haven’t seen anything that in France. Usually, a scent is refined and mild, it is never overpowering. It seems like they stick to florals, lots of magnolia which I love love love.

The items below are some of my tried and true products – and all smell amazing. I was in Paris in October and stocked up on these items and some new ones as well. I will have to add those to my rotation and report back!

Oh! If you go to Paris, the biggest and best pharmacy is Citypharma (26 Rue du Four, 75006). It is three stories tall and usually packed with people. I try to go with a list on my phone of names and pictures of what I am looking for.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse
I use this oil from head to toe: Morning and night mixed with my moisturizer, combined with body lotion after the shower, or in my hair to tame frizz and add moisture. I love the scent and packaging, it instantly makes my beauty routine feel luxurious.

Avène Eau Thermale
This thermal spring water is the perfect thing to use on really hot days, by the pool, or when my skin needs extra moisture.

Embroylisse, Lait-Crème Concentré
I think this was one of the first french beauty products I ever tried. It is a great everyday moisturizer for your face.

CicaBiafine Intense Repair Hands Cream
I had this one for a long time before I actually used it, once I did I was mad at myself I didnt use it sooner!

Bioderma Micellar Water
Can you even talk about French beauty products without talking about Bioderma Micellar Water? I don’t think so! It is the ultimate. I use the hydrating version for extra moisture.

Klorane Dry Shampoo
French girls use this dry shampoo, so now I use this dry shampoo. Period.

Caudalie Brightening Glycolic Peel Mask
After a month in France, my skin was feeling ROUGH. I wandered around a pharmacy for a while and blindly decided on this mask. I got lucky because it is a good one and my skin felt amazing afterward.
